Of all the chains, NAPA, O'Reilly's, Autozone..etc... What's your preference on wheel bearing brands?

which one of the box stores carries Timken?

NAPA used to. Not sure these days.

No one....

Oreillys will special order them for you.... For $28 per hub.
Order them from WCD, for $7 per hub.... You can't beat them.

Looks like Autozone does...NAPA doesn't

$13.99 Set outer
$14.99 Set inner

but I need them this weekend

for a 2wd ranger and basic needs for that style bearing setup that's serviceable . most any bearing will do .

yes timkin is great . but its a ranger and 2wd dd use . :D

if I recall napa is skf these days .

Isn't National an old company? And it seems like I remember Beck Arnley when I was a kid...

Beck-Arnly is a sourse of many OEM parts, they were also known as "World Parts" ...they were good quality and much cheaper than dealer cost, for the same parts..mostly for forigen vehicles though..

I sold National,Bower-BCA,Timken,Chicago-Rawhide,SKF,Mquay-Norriss and L&S bearings at various stores and dont recall any of those having failures really...but that was 15+ years ago too, back when quality was not sacrificed to match the price of cheaper bearings from no-name brands too...I used to see "country of origin" stamped in ink on the boxes, even back then most bearings were imported from Istanbul,Tiwan,Spain, and various other third world countries..

Timken was about the only one USA made back then...who knows where they make them today...lately its a crap shoot getting "good" parts, even long time trusted brands have cheapened up a lot and might not be the greatest...

Here you "might" get Timken bearings at some stores like Auto-Zone and Advanced Auto, usually they have to order them in though, since most people opt for the cheapest parts rather than the "best"...more than once my friend has called auto zone for wheel bearings and got three different brands,to do two races and cones--he didn't care as long as they fit,and were new...his customer wouldn't know any different either...

there are no wheel bearings made in the USA at this time...a couple of small manufacturers make some...but not all.

I've always used skf bearings cause I like Napa more than the other stores. Just did the inners and outers on the 60 a few months ago, out of the four bearings two were made in mexico, one in china, and one in japan...

My local Autozones always have Timken Dana 60 wheel bearings on the shelf (probably because they fit so many rear axles too), not sure if they stock less common ones though.

My local Six States derivative says good things about National. They seem to carry them just as much as Spicer. The guys at that shop are all avid 4x4ers too. They probably break just as much stuff as I do.

ive had good luck with nationals. keep in mind mines a wheeler rig weekend cruiser that only sees maybe 4500 miles a year on the street. ive been through 2 sets of bearings this year not because they were worn out but because I tend to repack them a lot. wheel bearings are my pet peeve
