wheel bearing questions

hey gus i just picked up a 3/4 ton pick up today to do an axle swap soon and it has the big hubs on it and i guess that the inner bearing is smaller than the newer style 44s or tenbolts does that mean that im going to be wearing out the wheel bearings alot sooner that if i had the other version
also is this external style hub the same strength wise as a newer d44 or is it just the lockout that people have problems with
