I'm looking for advice on changing wheelbearings in a 1982 blazer w/4wd.
Does anyone know where I can go to get details on changing them or know of any "special tools" that i might need? THANKS!

Front or rear? You will need a hub nut socket for the front and a bearing puller/slide hammer for the rears. If you are planning on just cleaning and repacking the fronts all you should need is the hub socket. If you want to replace the front bearings you will need a puller to remove the races from hub. A Haynes manual has the info and I am sure there are other books too.

x2, when you set your bearing lash don't go anymore than hand tight on the inside nut.

The way I did the front ones on mine was to use a small file to put a groove into one of the edges of the hub nut. I didn't have a hub socket.:o I used a screwdriver and a hammer to back the nut off. After I had it off, I took a cutting disc to put a nice groove into the nut for a better grip the next time.
For the rear I used a crowbar and hammer to pop the bearing race out, and a block of wood to spread the force of the blows putting the new one in.

Not the "correct" way, but it works.

Yes, VERY important. Just tight enough to hold the bearing without play, but not so that it doesn't spin freely.

Wheel bearings

Thanks for all the advice!
It's the front bearings, hopefully I'll get it done this weekend.
