Im rebuilding a D44 just installed new wheel bearings in the hub. I dropped the bearing onto the race then put the seal on and tapped it with a big socket until it was tight, is this correct? the seal is not even with the top of the hub like the old one was. I want to make sure I didnt go to far with the seal. Thanks.
has about 1/4" space at top of hub

yes, when you install the rotor, and the outer bearing, and tighten the nut, that is what ties it all together.
