Wheel Locks for one ton axles. What, where, and how much?

Gotta protect my 22" gold spinners.

OK, actually they are 15" beadlocks, but I'd like to keep them from wandering off.

Had them, took them off. not worth the hassles. Besides a pair of good channel locks will defeat them anyways. Not worth it IMO.

I did check AutoZone and Advanced Auto, they didn't have any big enough for 3/4 or 1-ton axles.

Here you go.

Consensus = not worth it?

My fear is not that they are too easy to defeat, but that the funny little "keyed" socket will strip or break and then I won't be able to get them off.

More opinions?

if they are easy to defeat, then you will be able to defeat them easily when the socket breaks.

They're a pain in the ass honestly. My brother had them on his little riceburner and they had to break them off. If they seize up your screwed.

Just IME though

I'm not so woried about them being taken off my truck. Bit I do keep on my spare in the back. An if it happens to strip or not come off. I have a nice pair of bolt cutters in my truck :)

Had them on my truck years ago when it was DD and had nice aluminum rims. It got broken into (attempted to steal the whole truck) and one of the things missing was the key to the lock. Took it to a tire shop and it was maybe 10 minutes from the time I walked in the store door to the time the truck was sitting back out in the lot with the locks removed...from that point forward I never bothered buying locks again.

Is that 400lb gorilla nuts?

They do look better than the key in the head of the nut design, but I would bet they have the same issues? Am I wrong? Besides they are too shiny for me. :D

i have them on mine, but just because the PO stuck them on there. never actually lost the key, but i thought i did once. i found it when i hosed out the cab. it fell into the 2" deep mud on the floor. yes, that was a very fun day :D.

the only time i've seen them be very effective is when a guy bought 5 sets (2wd truck) and replaced all of the stock nuts with them. expensive and it took him a looooong time to rotate the tires. but nobody stole his wheels, so it they must have worked, right? sure. and there aren't any tigers around, and i always where this ring, so it must repel them :rolleyes:.

There is another solution that has always worked with my DD....................

Run really ugly wheels and bald tires.:D
