Hey, I was trying to come up with a solution to clean up my salt pitted chrome wheels on my DD. It's been two yaers and I'm tire of looking at them this way. I can't afford new sets so maybe I could clean them, and paint them with Rust bullet or something recommended. Any thoughts?

in the picture they look like aluminum wheels. spray them with Busch's wheel cleaner and rinse off with water. polish them up afterwards with some aluminum polish.

$160.75 I don't think this will work. My wheels are real pitted. I stupidly let road salt stay on them too long the first year I had them. The salt has eaten into the surface of the wheels. I think I will have to sand them down and paint them with some kind of por 15 or rust bullet coating.

since it turns out they're aluminum, and your considering painting them, be aware, you need to use a self-etching primer on aluminum. Or the paint WILL fail...

this stuff is $7 a bottle and it works. I have seen severely pitted wheels that were black from brake dust come out great. I always get it at the Englishtown swap meet but I think you can buy it online.

It's not about the cost I just don't think it will work. They are pretty pitted. I might have to just sand'em and prime them with rust bullet and paint them.

well, technically you will need a conversion coating, spray it on, wipe it off, THEN self etching primer and the color. OR ELSE IT WILL FAIL.
