Hello, everybody. Love the site!

Been wrenching for a while but the 84 GMC Jimmy I picked up last year is my first off road build. Swapped out the blow 305 for a stock 350 and am working on the TBI swap. Next, putting in the 14 bolt FF and the 3/4 ton 10 bolt (I know it sucks, just to get it on the trail) that I picked up for it. Going to do a 4 inch spring lift in the front with a shackle flip in the rear.

My question is: Has anyone ever used the 16 inch stock steel wheels off a 3/4 ton for a decent sized tire? If so, what size tire, lift, and how did it work out? Also, does anyone know if the 73-87 8 lug wheel is the same as the 88-98?

Yes, I know there is a search option, but was not able to find much info.

Thanks

I used a set of stock wheels on my 36's. They were 16.5's though. I believe they were 12.5x36x16.5 tires. Worked great had no problems with them.

I don't know the specifics, but I'm guessing the 88+ (new body style) 3/4 and 1 ton wheels would have a differnt offset/backspacing. This being due to the change in front suspensions. I could be wrong though. I have never tried to mount a newer wheel onto an older rig...but something tells me that the center hole may need to be enlarged. Again I could be wrong.
