Is there anything to worry about with wheel spacers? I have 8.5" wheels on 35's with a pretty neutral offset. I want to get the back tires out a bit because under flex they rub on the inside of the fender wells.

Is the added stress they put on the axles something to worry about?

They don't really put added stress on the axles, just balljoints and tires. Not enough to really worry about unless you go crazy.

Using spacers is no more stress than reducing the backspacing of the wheels. There are lots of guys running 1.5" spacers to make the rear track width match the front. Actually, you probably don't want to run a spacer much narrower than this because the nuts that hold it on have to go inside the spacer. If you have a 10-bolt rear you are already pushing your luck with 35's, but the wheel bearings probably aren't the weak link even with spacers. If you have any kind of 14-bolt rear end there is almost no way to hurt it with wheel spacers.

Remember to torque properly and retorque.

I would say 2.5" is the crazy point. I plan on running 2" in the rear.

And yes torque is very important with spacers.

just remember

This spacer = bad

this spacer = good

I've been running 1.5'' spacers on my setup, (35's with a 12 bolt) for almost two years. Haven't had a single issue yet! :waytogo:

Safari - Where can I get a set of those spacers in the second photo?

I have 3" spacers between my rear duals and Shawn has had his truck 8ft in the air with spacers on it. Neither one of us has had the spacers give us any issues

you can get them all over. technically they are called adapters rather than spacers. you can get them from 1.25 all the way to 3.00 inches.

ebay
do a google search there are so many people makeing them nowdays. just search for the bolt pattern with adapter like 8x6.5 adaptor

i know someone said 1.5 to even out the rear with the front, but before i spend money i measure twice, so are you fellas for sure its 1.5 to even out the rear with the front?

thinking about getting some like this.
