So with my fancy aluminum wheels the original wheel studs aren't long enough and some are stripping out. So since autozone is retarded and carquest got me the wrong studs, I went ahead and I ordered a bunch from Jegs.

They just came is today and I am very pleased with them. They are way better quality that any dorman crap. However uppon further inspection, I realized that the wheel studs are TOO long. Or at least for my lug nuts which are the special conical (it think?) kind for my aluminum wheels.

So are there lug nuts that are longer and are still correct for my aluminum wheels? Or are there wheel studs that are slightly shorter but still longer than the originals?

Here's pics of what I've got:

Cut-off wheel + file= correct length:D

Cut-off wheel + properly sized fine-thread die = cleaner.

I'd put the die on first, cut to length, then chase the threads back up.

Or use open lug nuts.

I was thinking I could cut them. I do have a die that'll fit it too!

How about cutting the top off of the lug nuts?

I would cut the stud long before i tried cutting the end of the lug nut off.

At the very top cap of the lug nut there's no threads.... I don't think it should matter much

What are you going to do about the front? The knurls are spaced out so they grap the hub. I thought about doing that a long time ago but wasnt sure what to do for the front.

I have studs for the front. They are the same length as the new ones for the rear but of coarse with a bigger and longer knurl. Not entirely 100% sure that they will fit though... So I ordered 3 different kinds for the front.
