My brother was given 5 used wheels and tires. They are MT classic style wheels 16x10 the tires are 315x75x16 and 4 are about half tread left the fith one is new. He doesnt want the tires and gave them to me. Tonight I put them on my 97 gmc and they only slightly rub on the rear of the fender opening durring mid turn. He does want the wheels however, so I will have to have them swapped. The wheels I have are 16x8. My question is will the narrower rim actualy squeeze the whole tire narrower? Or just the beads? I will be cutting the fender but was just wondering.

The skinnier rims will make the tire slightly taller and thinner . If they clear heightwise in your wheelwell , they may not rub anymore on turning the wheels .

AH that makes sence. I never realy have messed with tire widths for clearance. I usualy dont go more than 8 wide either, I like the tire wider than the wheel look. I will get the wheels swapped to the narrower ones and trim the fenders. Later on Im getting fiberglass race style fenders, that should make everything clear nicely.
Ill get better pics in the daylight. It looks kinda cool all low slung with big meats lol. I hate to say it but I may consiter a body lift later too.
