Hi! I want to know the opinions from people who use wheels adapters. What you recommend?
What I want to know:
1 - pro/contra mounted on front axle
2 - pro/contra mounted on rear axle
A - pro/contra made of aluminium
B - pro/contra made of steel
If you have problems during exploitation, please specify. Thank you!

From what I understand, not at all on the front axle (bearings, alignment, torques, etc) and no more than 2" on back. I want to get a set for the rear axle on my 81 so that the track is the same front to rear. Aluminium is my choice.

Steel 40 mm to use H1 wheels both front and rear :waytogo:
No troubles, used them 5 years :D
Oh and aluminum is only good as beercans :p:

If going to be used on a street driven truck, I would check your local laws to see if they're allowed or not. Here in good old New Jersey they are illegal. Just something to think about.

I intended to use on street also! Speaking about laws, any kind of modifications, here, is illegal... if is visible. That's the reason for, I bought a four springs lift kit and not with rear blocks, because, with rear blocks is visible... but, this is another discussion; here, now, we talk about wheels adapters - which one is better and safe for this kind of car. So, I still wait your answers!

Excuse me because reopen this subject, but, I have 1.5" aluminium wheels adapters, with a different type of bolts in (different thread).
My intention was to replace the bolts, but, Ronnie4wd said what you seen above of this post... and, put me in a dificult position, so, I came back and ask you: what it's your opinion; it's good idea to replace the bolts in the aluminium adapters, or is safer to replace the Al adapters with another adapters, made from steel?

Anyone of you, use Al adapters (like the types you find on ebay), in difficult off-road conditions, on a K20 or a K30 (I mean on a heavy trucks)? There is the chances to loose the rear wheels because of the Al adapters (not strong enough)?

Thank you and wait for your opinions!

i just bought (2) 1/4 inch steel wheel spacers, don't know how they work yet but i want to get my reer wheels out a little to make it look decent. i would though go with aluminum spacers for on road use only and steel spacers for off road:D

its just like an aluminum wheel, keep it tight and youll be fine. but once they begin to loosen up and open up the lug stug holes, there will be trouble. aluminum is soft but not that soft.

its not really different from bolting a really thick aluminum wheel to your hub.

with that said, i dont run aluminum ones either. steel is just way better.

1/4" it's ~6 mm. Increase the rear track only with ~12 mm. Not enough. The difference between F/R track, on mine, is 60 mm (D60king/14bff).
My intention was to put 8 mm (1/3") spacers on front and 38 mm (1.5") adapters on rear. With these, the track F/R is equally.
In that case, to use steel adapters, I need to check the rear bolts lenght, to see if I can use 30 mm adapters without spacers on front.

most, in not all, new, duallies on the road use a steel hub adapter on the fronts to make the proper track width for the DRW setup.
