new here, 1984 k5 with 14 bolt 8 lug in rear, corporate 10 bolt 8 lug in front. 4.10 gears. 2 inch ORD lift. Confused on wheel and tires compatibility. Going with 33 12.5 tires but can't figure out what 8 lug rims will work without shaving caliper/ bracket. Any suggestions would help, 15x8, or 16x10, whatever works.

16 or bigger will clear no problem

A 15x8 will clear if you go with 2.5” backspacing

Worth noting that there are 2x 8 lug patterns, 165mm and 170mm
IIRC 170 is the newer trucks

so a 16x10 8 lug 165mm with 33 12.5 R16 tires will work, correct? or a 15x8 8 lug wheel 165mm with backspacing. I seem to have trouble locating those types of wheels, every 15x8 i see is 6 lug , which website is best for combo on wheels/tires?

8 lug square body’s came from the factory with 16’s or bigger so as long as the lug pattern (8x6.5) and backspacing (4.5” or less) are correct, you’re good.

With respect to 8 lug 15” dia wheels, these will only be aftermarket. I’m not sure who still makes a wheel like this so you may only find them used. Most old school 8 lug 15” wheels were 10” wide or bigger.

If you uses 15” wheel you have a 80% probability you’ll have to grind on the brakes a little as most of those wheels had 3.5” backspacing. As stated, 2.5” backspacing will clear but they aren’t common. LOTS of people have shaved the brakes without issues, just use common sense, go vs no go fitting and know when to stop.

Some of us live off the scrapes of people who buy too big a tire or want to run 80% tread or more.

So going with 17s opens the market for used tire sizes that fit. 33-35" you'll get all the Jeep leftovers because they need to jump different bandwagons every oil change :D

I agree, go with a 17" rim for tire availability.

There's actually three 8 lug patterns I know of, 8x6.5(165) is original for all 3 (GM, Dodge, and Ford), 8 x 170 is newer Ford, and 8 x 180 is newer GM. Make sure you get the correct one.
