i'm going to be ordering rims soon for my blazer, and i need to get 8 lug 15" rims. does anyone have this setup now? i will have a dana 44 and a 14 BFF with disc brakes.
will a 15x8 rim with 4.00" backspace fit over the rotor and caliper? what about the tie rod end? or should i spend the extra cash and get a 2.5" backspacing?

The 4.00 backspacing will require grinding of the front backing plate but they should fit with no problem on the 14 BFF with disc brakes. I recently upgraded the rear axle on my 88 K5 to the 14 BFF with disc brakes and made the conversion of my 10 bolt front to the 8 lug rotors and then purchased some cheap steel Nomad II's 15X8 rims with 4.00 backspacing to keep my old tires. The back tires fit with no probelms, however, the front required some grinding with a 4 inch disc grinder and a lot of patience. Be sure and cover up items in your garage that you don't want metal dust on and go slow and it will work.

okay that's some good news, what do you mean by front backing plate? might be some terminology i haven't heard before. do you mean the plate that goes behind the rotor to control brake dust?

I have a 14ff with disc brakes and I bought a set of 15x10 eatons 3 3/8 backspacing and had to do nothing to mount them on the rear, On my d60 tho i had to gring some on the calipers...

if you ever plan on dana 60 and want no grinding bolt on easy go 2.5 " backsapce. or 3.5" for little grinding.

The plate that the brake caliper mounts to. It is wider in diameter than a regular 10 bolt brake caliper mount so even though you can use the same disc brake caliper for the front, it will need grinding with a 4.00" backspaced rim in order to clear the rim. There was a very good write up on hear about mounting 15" rims on a dana 60 front that addresses pretty much the same issues and had pictures! - Wes

I have 15x12's with 4" backspacing and had to gring both front and rear calipers (dana 60 front and 14ff rear with 77 calipers and ruff stuff brackets). The rears werent so bad, but still needed to be kissed by the grinder. The fronts needed a lot of work.

After looking at my tires, I have 15X10s not 15X8s. Anyway, they were close but did not rub. I can see where a 15X12 would need some grinding. - Wes
