Hello, I’m new to this forum and just purchased an 89 Blazer Silverado 4x4. Truck came with a small lift and some 15 inch wheels with 33’s which appear at least 10 years old. Honesty, don’t think the previous owner drove the truck too much. Looking at upgrading the wheels and tires to a modern look. Wanted to get some input on backspace for wheels and tires sizes for the new setup. Looking at 17 & 18 inch wheels for it. Obviously would like to avoid any rubbing. Would like to stay around the same height so that I’m able to park my truck in the garage. Thanks in advance.

8” wide wheels with about a centered offset/backspacing work best. Keeps the tire under and off the fender. Go wider on the rim or with more “poke” on the backspacing and you’ll be rubbing and cutting.

How wide can I go on a 8” wheel? 285?, 295?. Looking at KO3’s or Toyo AT III

I don't know what the limit is, but when I bought my rally wheels (15" diameter, 8" wide) they had 35x12.5s on them and they don't look weird or anything (in my opinion). On a bigger wheel with smaller tire diameter you may not be able to get away with as much since there will be less sidewall to soak up the width difference. I'm honestly not sure.

As wide as you can make fit. I’ve seen guys running 12-12.5” wide tires on their 17-18” factory rims so it works.

Thank you for the input. Looking at a 295/70/17. You think I can get away with a 8” wheel.

You think I can get away with a 9” wheel with a 4.5 backspace so centered?

Thanks again

Thanks for your input. Currently I have 15” wheels on 33s (33x12.5). Pretty wide tire but not sure the width of the wheels. Either 7 or 8 inches.

Yes and yes.

I want to say someone just had a thread about running 295/70R17’s with little lift.

Great news to hear. Looking at some 295/70/17 KO3 on a 18x8 wheel. That tire is 33.26 inches tall, 11.61 inches wide and the sidewall is 8.13 inches.
