has anyone 'flipped the centers' on stock steel 8 lug wheels...? i'm thinking about grinding out the rivets that hold the centers in, flip them, and bolt them back on with grade 8 bolts and double nyloc nuts for safety... or just run a tack weld on each nut...

i've got the stock 16x6.5" 8 lug wheels on my truck now with 315/75-16 BFG M/T's and i'm buying a set of 35/12.5-16 TSL's tomorrow that i'm going to keep for trails and the local mud pit... the idea is to put the modified wheels onto the TSL's and have them for off-road only...

any ideas/suggestions...? anybody been there/done that...?

I know someone with Dodge 16 inch rims bolted on backwards to push the wheels out . If you run them backwards you don't need to modify the rim . Just check your lugs often

see i thought about asking that question but didn't want to get the 'what are you, some kind of idiot' response... yeah, it would be tons less work, for something i'd only use on the weekends or something... think my local track would allow me to run that...? there's nothing stated in their rules about wheels (honestly, nothing at all)

the only other hard part would be checking the air pressure

fyi 315/70/16 and 35x12.50x16 same basic size tires.

and you need to make sure the bolts you would use are air tight and also i wouldnt try this at all my self.

my biggest problem, now without my lift in, is rubbing on the draglink... yeah, it took the boot off...

plus i figure with having the wheels flipped it will give more stability, and wider for steering... i'm not worried about it hitting the fender - i trimmed 3" off of the fronts, and if it hits before i put my lift in it doesn't matter...


re-centering H1's is different because there aren't any holes to the inside of the wheel, right...? all you're doing is cutting and welding...?

why not pick up a set of drw hubs i have for your 1ton dana 60 i bet you are running them on. this will get you +4" per side.
