My axles are getting new gears and are ripped apart at the moment so i can not get any measurements due to the fact I have no drums knuckles calipers or rotors on at the moment. I have a 14 bolt ff rear and a dana 60 front. I plan on doing the rear disc conversion on the 14 bolt. I need to know the correct back spacing to eliminate wheel spacers on the rear. I plan on running 17" wheels to avoid any sort of grinding.

I am looking to get the rear wheels to be out as far as the front wheels with out using wheel spacers thanks for any help.
 
Go ahead and use the spacer/adapters. they dont hurt anything and will leave you with 4 identical wheels. Easier to rotate, and less confusion when you have multiple tires off at once. But if you really dont want them for some reason, just get the rear rims with 1.5" less backspace than the front. may be hard to do in a 17" wheel
 
The 14 bolt ff is only three inches shorter than the Dana 60? I thought it was more.
 
nope 3" total = 1.5 per side.

if you can and its not to late van width 14ff rear = 70" total width. :whistle: then no spacers.
 
if they came off a square body SRW they are 3" different.

Thats what I would do. The idea of different wheels doesnt seem to be the most practical.
 
You are also looking at getting into a pair of custom rims to achieve this. A couple of years ago I was looking into a set of 17" wheels and wanted less backspace (to stick out more) than the standard 4.5-5" BS for the off-the-shelf rims. The only way I could find these was to custom order them which doubled or tripled the price.
 
What is the back spacing on the original setup, is the Dana 60 the same width, and will the same backspacing work on the Dana 60 and 14 bolt with the disc brake conversion?
 
69" wms = dana 60

67" wms = srw 14ff

70" wms = van srw 14ff

and disk kit dont change wms specs. rotor on backside like stock drum setup.

4.25-4.5" is most comon b/s used over the years . dont waste time with special stuff. if you want perfect just do spacers on rear to kick out a little. or van with 14ff rear axle.

and if 15" wheels used on dana 60 = 2.5" b/s to = no grinding of brake parts to fit.
 
Will 14mm offset with 5.5" backspace work? Will it stick out further?
 
The offset and back space are just 2 different ways to say the same thing. just a guess are they 10" wide?? 5.5" bs on one of these trucks will be pretty deep. They'd have to be like 12" wide to make that look right and it'd still probably cause issues.
 
no they'd stick in further, You could maybe run them if you got 1" spacer/adapters, The style with their own studs. the only other thing that may be an issue is the center hole for your front hub( is it big enough) 4.5 inches of backspace is pretty much as far as I'd go however you can get to it.
 
That sucks! I'm having the hardest time finding a set of wheels I like with the 8 x 6.5 bolt pattern.
 
I had a hard time just with my 6 bolt pattern, when I tried for the 1 ton I gave up and was gonna put H1's on:confused: You can do the spacer thing but it will add cost.
 
Already have to do spacers in the rear don't want to add another inch.
 
Since there is no need to create another Wheel Spacer thread, and the Spacer's topic has come up a few times in this thread... here goes...

Is there any particular Brand of Wheel Spacers that outperforms the others?


Now a weird question... If I wanted to switch from 6 lug to 8 lug (without changing axles) would these Wheel Adapters work, or would I be setting myself up for a major issue down the line. http://www.airbagit.com/6-Lug-To-8-Lug-Wheel-Adapters-s/1587.htm

I'm not sure about the brands. but I dont see a problem with running them 6 -8 adapters at all.
 
On the topic of back spacing, the H2 wheels that alot of people run (myself included) run about 5.5" of back spacing. And those are 17x9. Similar dimensions to the wheels you want to run.

Just throwing that out there if it helps.
