Wheels

I'm thinking that there are too many of us "old school" guys around here. You would have a lot of gap around the brakes with a 20" wheel. These brakes fit in a 15" wheel.
And that small of a tire won't give the wheel much protection. And a K5 isn't a sports car.

I can't think of anybody on this site running 20's.

What year did GM change the 8 lug pattern from 8 on 6.5 to whatever it is now?

My problem with 20's has always been cost first. Those things are about 3 times the cost of a 16" tire of the same diameter. Also a 20" wheel for a 33" tires is like a rubber band stretched around the wheel. They are very stiff and don't have nearly the sidewall. If you spend all your time on concrete then do it if you want to, it won't really make a difference. If you spend time in the dirt, you might want more rubber.

Unless they have some wrapped with 54" tires, bolted to Rockwells....
Yeah, forgot about those. Pretty sure the OP's plans don't include Rockwells.

I think it came with the GMT900's came out in 2007.

I am researching the 20" wheels for my 10 lug big rig and when I saw this post I assumed he wanted big tires that only come on big rims 20" or bigger.
But yeah 33" tires will be rubber band around the wheel.

IMO these trucks don't look good with 20" rims. I always would puke at trucks with 20s, and now my Tundra is running 20s, but with 35" tires. It also doesn't help that they are "square body" trucks and the bigger rims don't flow with the lines. Newer trucks have body lines and shapes that flow, making bigger rims proportionate.....

I always said tires with big rims are wagon wheels, not tires. And the Donner Party may not have needed to go cannibal if they had tires. Don't be a cannibal, run tires.
