I hope this is the right section for this and people are not numb for hearing so many engine idle/sputtering threads

Anyways, here is what I am experiencing......

89' 350 with TBI

I just installed two new injectors and it does appear to run better, especially when it's "luke warm".....(between cold and operating temp).

Driving yesterday in 85 degree weather and stop and go traffic, I noticed that from a stop, and medium pedal I got some sputtering and couldn't get the full engine power. Once I got past about 2500 rpms it tended to "clean itself" out and then the engine became more snappy.

When the engine is cooler and still warming up, the truck takes off great from a stand still and accelerates constantly all they way through the shifts in the tranny.

Just seems to happen when it's fully warm. I did smell a little bit of gas after takeoff when the engine was sputtering just a bit. Wondering if it's getting too much fuel when sitting still and after launch, I'm able to burn off the excess fuel.

Just don't know. Idle air control, EGR valve, ????? any advice?:dunno:

I was hoping to throw a few more new parts at it before bringing it into the Chevy dealer.

Thanks for any help!

Have you checked for codes?

Look at the center of you cap and rotor for burn up button and arching.

Check fuel pressure.

I just fought a similar problem, egr valve was the eventual culprit... I'm assuming you cleaned up and rebuilt the tbi when you put the new injectors in.

No, I didn't rebuild it but I did clean it up. I was planning on taking it to the GM dealer today to hook it up on a scanner but it now doesn't start. :dunno:

It ran fine all day yesterday but now, it just cranks and cranks. I wiggled some wires and still nothing. I did notice that the EGR Solinoid (not egr valve) had two vacuum hose connectors and one of them had nothing plugged into it. Don't know if this is contributing to it but odd. I looked around for a loose one and couldn't find one.

I also smelled around and didn't smell any Large fuel odor....which leads me to believe, not much fuel is getting there. I hammered on the fuel tank thinking a weak pump.....still nothing.

I'll try again tonight and if it starts, I'll bring it to GM and let them explore it on their schedule. This is not a daily driver so it's OK but still, like to get it reliable.

That top connection on the solenoid is a vent on mine, according to the decal on the radiator support. I thought the same thing when I saw it...

Start back at the beginning, scan for codes, check for loose wires, bad grounds... Then check to see if you have fuel and spark..

Just got a call from dealer....they were able to get it to "not start" :waytogo: and found that it was not getting any spark and determined the distributor was going bad. He also believes this is the cause of the sputtering issues on the engine while driving around. We'll get that done and see how it goes. Hope this is it!
