...it affect anything else in the engine compartment? for example, does the fan tend to hit the shroud easier? do motor mounts become harder to line up or do they bind, etc?

or is it even noticeable?

just droped mine with the factory spacers and its good to go

There's rubber mounts on all the stuff you mentioned, so I don't see it as a problem.

When you drop it, just check for clearance and fan/shourd, and distributer/firewall clearance. If you are dropping it less than 2" inches, you should not have any problems, but still check.

I dropped my t-case about 2" and my fan just barely hit the shroud. I trimmed it a little and now it doen't rub at all.
