Yea the bucket is flush to the mounts. the lens is flush to the bucket. These came off a mid eighty something truck in the junkyard. They fit flush on that truck. NFC how I screwed up something so simple.

Is the gasket maybe not in its groove? That just came to me.
Just took a set I have apart. With the gasket removed, the lens will sit right up against the screw "standoffs" in the bucket, even with bulbs in it. Unless the gasket was doubled up, can't see that being an issue.
Pretty sure mine say "Guide 73" on them, and I don't think anything changed on the lenses and buckets '73-91, other than the stainless trim that was part of the Silverado option (I think).
Edit: doesn't look like LMC differentiates between year either. Confused.
