Where can I find an exhaust shroud for the pre-heater tube for headers?

I got a new truck and it has headers on it. Of course, they do not have a heat shroud on them so the pre-heater duct that goes from the headers to the air intake is missing. Does anyone know where I can buy one of these? Google has been no help, I am only finding stock ones for 1977 and earlier Pontiacs.

You can cut a short piece of exhaust pipe (the proper size for the heat riser tube) and tack weld it to one of the header tubes.

Really, i would make something. My flowtech's came with a small (1") legnth of the proper diameter tube, with a small bar welded across the end. Instructions said run a hose clamp through this bar, and around one header tube. Basically, its a rigged setup to sorta make it look like it belongs there so you pass smog.

Point: Make something that allows you to attach that preheater tube to the top of the header tube, that looks legit.

I don't really have access (or the ability!) to fab anything like this... but yeah, that is exactly what I need.

Doesn't anyone sell something like this? What would it be called so I can Google it? :D

Get creative. I bet you can come up with something. That, or measure the riser hose size, and stop by an exhaust shop, and get them to just weld a bar/piece of metal across the open end of a 1.5" long seciton of exhaust pipe that is the correct diameter. Bet you could get this done in 5 min at a shop for a 6 pack, if you go to a local shop.

I know sometimes its easier to buy, but in this case, not sure what is out there. You could call flowtech, and see if they'll sell you just that piece....

I don't know what the technical name is but you can EASILY make one. You can even get the short piece of exhaust pipe and then use a die grinder and cut a 1/2" wide slot on either side and use a hose clamp to attach it to the header pipe (this is how they come when you buy a new set of headers).

I'll have to see what I can whip up. Now that you all got me thinking about this, I bet I can buy a little sub of pipe at AutoZone and cut some holes in the sides and put a band clamp through it.

Thanks for getting my brain going! :D

I was just about to say that I could make you one for a few bucks and shipping cost but you can EASILY make it yourself.

Well I'm back from AutoZone. Picked up a short length of exhaust tube about 1 1/2" OD and a hose clamp. I have a cut-off tool so I figure I can slice a notch in the side of the pipe and run the clamp through it. Thanks guys!
