Hi Guys,

My 90 K5 Blazer came with auto locking hubs..........they work....and I am keeping them on till they dont work!!...lol

I bought some new rear 4x4 center cap decals for my Rally wheels.............but I am finding out nobody makes them reproduction for the front automatic hubs. I have some NOS auto locking hub covers.........but because of their value I dont wanna use em.

I am wondering if I could find somebody to make me a reproduction set of them??

hahaha
cause they don't have a market for people who:

A) Don't want to admit to having auto locking hubs
B) Like auto locking hubs

:)

true, there isnt really a market for them...........but the question still stands.........

these appear to be made of aluminum, and the lettering/color appears to be anodized.............I wonder if I could find somebody to (recolor) them for me?

I ordered the LMC reproduction ones and they seem just like the originals.

I had to use a heat gun to get the old emblems off but it was fairly easy. I ordered 4 as they dont have ones specific for the front hubs. I took the old emblems off the front hubs and traced them onto the LMC ones designed for the back. SInce they have the border around the 4x4 emblem they can easily be trimmed with tin snips to fit the front.

The emblems didn't hold very well with the adhesive provided so I used additional adhesive and then they stuck well. Nobody would ever know the front ones are trimmed and all 4 look brand new now.

Do you have a pic of them? I might have to try this, I wouldnt think tin snips would give such a clean perfectly round cut.........but again.......I might have to try that.

For the sake of a factory restore I too like the uniform look of the auto locking hubs with the inserts. Most rigs you see if they still have the auto hub inserts at all are faded to the point of just plain aluminum. I wonder what color process the factory used to paint the inserts.

You can notice nothing was trimmed on the front hubs as the black has some border around it that simply gets trimmed.

I think this small detail makes all the difference. I am going to get the aluminum rims refinished but have yet to decide on the $90 a wheel process or go all out and have them ground and re-clearcoated for $250 a wheel.

Your auto hub/ wheel hub pic didnt show up............or for some reason it wont let me see it. Can you directly paste it in the posting without having to click on it to view it?

Its because you are a "registered user" and not a paid member. $25 bucks a year is the best investment you can make in your truck.

I don't have a photobucket account and I tried copy and pasting directly in the post and it didn't work. You can either give me a tutorial on how to bypass the site capabilities for picture sharing or drop the $25 bones to join the brotherhood. If you have a paypal account I will even send you $10 in the spirit of new membership.
