In generial I wanna know how to find this. You know how Chevy changed the body style of trucks in the 2000 model year? Well they discontinued the K5 Blazer from the new style right? Wrong. They still made it with the newer body style, but it was only sold in Mexico and I don't know why. You can still find a 1995 Dodge Ram Charger and I've seen one once here in Chicago a number of years ago.

My question is how do I find this thing? Where on the internet would I go to find a truck for sale in Mexico and how can I bring it here?

This for sure is something no one would have... I wonder why they didn't sell them here, maybe they simply didn't sell.

Any suggestions?

I have seen the mexican goverment se the 2 door durangoes and the 2 door tahoe in the 99-02 body

I cant see it appealing to many people in the us

You won't be able to register that veh. in the U.S. There is one of those Ramchargers that comes into our Dodge dealership with Mexican plates. It doesn't have the emissions necessary to be legal for registration in the U.S. The Blazer is probably the same way.

I had a buddy that tried to purchase a land rover in canada and have it shipped. They (I don't know who "they" are) told him that in order to get the truck shipped into the US he would have to have it complete disassembled to cross the border. I bought a dodge sprinter van which were made by mercedes in germany and they have to dissassemble them there and reassemble them here in order to sell them in the US. Good luck with that!

I'm interested, I just don't know where to find one at all. I mean I can find a Mexican website and have it translated, but where to begin?

It's the model, but the top doesn't come off... to my knowledge. I only knew about this truck like 8 years ago from a very short clip off of Motor Week. Man I think I need one of these either way.

I remember when it was figured out that gm sold monte carlo ss's with 5 speed manuals in Mexico.

It was figured out that it was possible to get one into this country, but the "certification" process was in the tens of thousands of dollars to get it legal for registration.

It is possible to license and register mexican vehicles although I dont know exactly how to go about it, When I lived in SLC i lived in a predominantly mexican niegborhood. The guy straight across the street from me was Carlos Tapia, an older guy I would guess late 50's early 60's. Anyway he drove a 95 2 door dodge ram charger although it was differnt from the pics posted here as the back windows was one rather than 2. (he claimed they was available in 4 door too but WAY expencive) His wife drove a 92 VW beatle, according to Carlos the beatles where all built exactly like a 74 superbeatle. The only changes they ever made was power windows and locks, fuel injected 1600 engine, and a porche 914 designe 5 speed trans.

TO get to the point they both was fully registered and had utah plates.

I would assume after you pay a tarif charge on the vehicle you would have to license it in one of the more forgiving states. I have herd that in Arizona you can build a buggy slap a jeep grill on it and license it as a jeep. maybe if you had someone that lived in AZ to do it??? like I said im not sure how it worked but it is possible.

And about the whole disassebly thing? I doubt that cars come from all over outside of the US. I would guess its more of a matter of how much money you have.

I was going to bring up the VW thing. They made old-style air cooled rear engine Beetles in Mexico until '03 or '04. It is not legal to bring them in to the US. It happens, but people are swapping the pans (or, if you can get away with it, just the vin and title) with a pre-78 (which would have been legally imported.) I don't think there is any way to legally bring a Mexican Beetle in to the US and drive it. It is a common fantasy among the VW crowd and I am sure every loophole has been explored.

I'm sure its possible to get away with the Chevy equivalent of the VW "pan swap" by buying a salvage Silverado or something with a vin and title and "rebuilding" it into your Mexican Blazer. But, if you could it would hinge on un-repeatable things (like your State Patrol inspector being an idiot.)

well...theres 1 of those vw's here in searcy arkansas...here you can tag a buggy...vw...oldsmobile torinado....buggys..saidrails=legal

edit..oh btw...to get it here all they did was put the shocks on the bumpers..titled as 2002 iirc 2000's

p.s.s. salvage vehicles can be tagged here also

It can be done legally but I don't know if it would be worth the fuss and money. Mexico does NOT want vehicles to leave the country but the US has ways of doing it legally. I also know of a Toyota corolla (although the model name is different) that was legally registered here locally. The owner is a legal immigrant who went through all the stuff to become a US citizen, and was permitted to keep his Mexican car.

I KNOW for certain they allow Mexicans to bring their vehicles into the US while on legal work permits.

I also know that to take a US car into Mexico is a $135 fee.

There just isn't un guarded roads from Mexico to the US that you can just drive a car (non 4wd) here illegally so there has to be a legal way.

my friends ex g/f had the '02 or '04 vw, her dad got it for her for graduation,so i'm thinkin '02... they put nos 70's super beetle bumpers, w/shocks mounts on it, thats all he said he had to do to get it here,

about the only thing we can't title here in arkansas, are 4 wheel atv's...

a 3 wheeler atc can be tagged as a trike if you claim its a custom w/ a motorcycle motor, signals/lights/horn and i've seen them get picky about d.o.t. tires tho, but guys just swap them back out, after they get tags, most sherriff/city cops realize most 3 wheelers had no clutches, so most w/clutch, you can claim its a motorcycle engine...several 250r...200x's w/tags runnin around here in summer

i'm hunting a 350x to make street legal w/ a motorcycle motor ;-)wink;-) and motorcycle title(ideally 250cc), not sure where to find a set of d.o.t. tires for a 3-wheeler, tho...if you see a honda 350x(red,white,&blue/dual headlights) in superb shape..think of me...especially if for sale and no more than a state away...arkansas, texas, oklahoma, kansas, missouri, tennessee, mississippi,... i'd travel that far for the right one, but this is not the classifieds,... i think i will go post this there, see whats the nicest one i can find and how much,,,gotta tell ya about our laws tho!

i know arkansas is 1 of the few states left, that will let you tag a salvaged vehicle! there should be some money to make, buying wrecks/totaled from states you guys live in, that won't allow it to be titled anymore,..by sending them here!...alot of people around here making money doing it,...buying 2 identical cars(1 wrecked up front/1 in rear, from insurance co. ...cheap) gut it(upoulstry wise) cut them in 1/2 weld the 2 good 1/2's together...mixed upolstery(best from each car, dye if need be) and sell it for profit w/o investing any of your money!

the banks will loan 80% of book value even on a totaled vehical....

i have a friend who recently(last 6 months), bought a totaled 2wd 2004 8.1L, quad cab 2500(leather,loaded,fairly low miles, b/c it was wrecked in the 1st part of 05, insurance had to move it) for iirc $3800(rearended/totaled) maybe $3300,anyway he borrowed $14,000 against it, which left @$11,000...

he bought a sportside bed, older model truck rear-end, crossmembered it behind the cab and back-halved it(4 link), lowered the front(bell-tec,can't remember if he bagged this 1 or not, i don't think he did the quad cab), anyway, he rimmed&tired it up,cowl hood, front facia, clear lenses, shaved the handles, remote start/windows, a little billit, i put @$500 worth of stereo in it, off the factory head unit) rear roll pan, custom taillights, custom paint....and still had money from original($14000) loan left...and then sold it for $18,500($4500 + whats left from original loan=profit)..he does this for a living, took him 3-3 1/2 weeks, all the hot rod parts he uses, the banks loan money to buy the stuff, he supplies labor/tools/shop! hotrods totaled chevy trucks on the banks dime, then gets custom built pricing, when he sales it!

the bank knows what he's doing, they give him...i think its called a promisory loan, on his promise the loan is going toward fixing the truck, and give him either 60 or 90 days until a payment is due, so he has time to fix it, and they loan 80% of book, even when totaled, no matter what insurance wants for the vehicle....he did a z06 vette, last year and said he didn't make all that much money off it, he says the custom rodded chevy trucks make him the best money....i envy his little biz, makin money hotrodding chevy trucks for a profit w/ someone elses money, then sells it and finishes another 1....i guess its sort of like flipping houses, but FUN! he has ussually 3-4 going at any givin time, in different stages of completion...he told me once, that he tries to finish 2 a month, not working himself to death and makin a fairly good income. it works well enough that he built a shop 3 sizes what he had and a frame machine! sounds like the ideal job to me!
