Probably going to be doing wheel bearings and such soon so I figure I should do the front axle's u-joints while I'm in there. Where's a guy get genuine Spicer U-joints?

What's the newer, higher strength D44/10 bolt one called? 5-760x?

If ya machine the shafts to take full circle clips and use those joints they'll be much stronger. Search around for it I'm not really sure on part numbers and method but some say you can do it with a dremel and some patients.

Highonda on Pirate.

He sells Spicer stuff plus all the wheel bearing and misc axle rebuild stuff cheaper than any part store.

Okay...that site just sucks. Clunky as hell. Do you know where the 5-760x is on the site? I honestly can't find it.:doah:

Eh, it's my DD. Biggest tires it will ever get are 32's...MAYBE 33's. Definitely not getting wheeled hard. I'm leaving it stockish. Stockish with stockish parts so I don't have to do extra stuff just to get it back on the road when it goes down.

Will check him out. Use the same screen name over there?
Check your local driveline shops. Most carry Spicer Joints.
Heh heh...Traverse City = semi-resort tourist yuppie town 40 miles from the nearest freeway and 3 hours from the nearest big city. There aren't any true driveline shops and the ones that are charge friggin' ridiculous prices because "where else you gonna get it?" I buy most of my stuff online because of this.

Thanks guys.:waytogo:

I bought all new spicer U joints, and the good ones, and got them from here.
Had good prices and customes service. My package arrived busted open and they sent me replacements right out.

Any driveshaft shops close by? That's where most of the guys in our club source Spicer stuff from and their prices are very competitive and generally have the basic stuff in stock.

Proving my point from a previous post...

...the only driveshaft/driveline place locally is Valley. They have 10 in stock...at $39 plus tax EACH.:eek1:

Dunno if you can search solely by manufacturer PN, but rockauto.com sells Spicer stuff, and was considerably cheaper than other places last I looked.

I'll have to look on their site. It listed no Spicer parts under the front axle u-joints.

Dana/Spicer have a different name? Neither appears in their manufacturer listing.

They show Spicer/Raybestos as a supplier, but under u-joints for a 1985 K5, (drivetrain category) they only list AC Delco and Precision.

I'm guessing they don't have them. Tried the part number you listed as well, no luck with it. I'm surprised actually.

Have you checked with Randy's ring and Pinnion? they used to sell spicer stuff. But they may be selling Yukon now. Their prices were always good. Might want to give them a call

$39 each for spicer joints??????? Do they grease them up before they give you the shaft up your ***?
I just bought spicer 10B joints from my local shop $21 each... No grease tho:D

Like I said, ass end of nowhere 40 miles from the nearest freeway and 3 hours from the nearest big city. The idea is universally, "where else are you going to get it?"

Everythingy is either out of stock, hard to get, or expensive.

Is spicer better than say a precision U joint? Ive had really good luck with the precision joints, but Im nowhere near as hard on my stuff as some of you guys. and I still have little tires:doah::(
