Where do the Factory Horns bolt in???

I've been spending a lot of "quality time" hanging over the engine compartment the last few days....mostly in preparation for the installation of my 3rd Q-Jet....

I thought that since I was in there I "might as well" clean up some of the wiring I didn't like and make things neater looking. I located the DK GRN wires that connect to the horns (apparently there's supposed to be one one each side?)....and the horns and brackets are in one of the "parts boxes" I received when I bought the truck. There is a locating "pin" on the bracket with a hole about an inch away for the bolt to go through and secure it.

The question is: Where are the horns supposed to be? Inside the engine compartment, or between the grille and the radiator support? I assume that the opening of the horn points "down" toward the ground but that may not be the case.

Anyone got a photo of how it's supposed to look....or a description of where the mounting point is??

My 70 only has one and its located on drivers side of radiator on the support..theres a flat pillar there in between headlite wiring and radiator with one threaded hole down towards the inner fender well ..if you have 2 maybe they go one on each side of the radiator in engine compartment..on the pass side I'm guessing it would go between radiator and battery mounted on the support..hope this helped

I have two horns on the driver's side. One is on the radiator support with the pin hanging over the edge. The other horn is on the radiator support near the headlights. I don't know if this is how it came, but it's how it came to me.

A single horn was standard (bolted to the driver's side of the radiator support on the vertical U-channel), with a second horn being an option (bolted to the flat part of the radiator support near the voltage regulator). Both horns would be mounted inside of the engine compartment.

I'm running part of a wierd horn setup that was optional in Cadillacs. I don't have it all mounted up right now, but when I do get it mounted up, the horns are ugly sounding (sounds like a freight train). It's a triple horn setup using two snail shell units (an F and a D note, I think) and a straight trumpet (C note, I think). I am going to try to bolt these in front of the radiator support for better effect, since right now the horns are louder inside of the truck than outside (with them mounted in the engine compartment).

I think I've got it. There was a 4-sided "welded in" nut on the vertical radiator support. There was no locating hole for the pin to go into, but it looks like it was designed to simply "hook around" the edge of the support to keep it from rotating. It seems like a prefect fit, and the horn is pointing DOWN towards the ground.

The second horn has a small DK GRN "jumper wire" wire a splitter on one end. Clearly, it was designed to leapfrog off the first horn. I also found a square nut welded into the radiator support, very close to the D.S. Headlight, and a locating hole right next to it. I installed the second horn there, but THAT one is aimed towards the passenger side.....not straight down....?

The first horn works....the second appears to be broken.....But at least I know where they go!!!
