Just wondering where everyone gets there parts from?
Jegs?
summit?
Other?

Just trying to find the best and cheapest place to buy stuff mainly headers and intake

When I was putting together my engine for my K20 I bought a large amount of stuff in one order from Jegs. Pretty good prices and I have been happy with their service for the most part. If you are getting headers you might be better off trying to buy local if there is a chance they won't fit.

I have been using Summit, their prices are way better than the local speed shop in my town. That and Summit has a whearhouse in Reno, NV so I useually get my parts in 2days or less.

Good Luck

Some parts from both summitt and jegs. I would buy headers local as fitment is always a problem. Also If you go ordering any parts talk to machine shops and local performance shops to make sure you get the right part number. I had a problem with that when it came to ordering valve springs, the # summitt sent me was not compatible even though their computer said it was.

When I was building my 388, I got most everything from Summit and Jegs. The price, service and delivery times are hard to beat.:D

Mostly from Northern Auto Parts for my 350 buildup...great service and prices, have used them before and will definitely use them again! I have also bought stuff from Jegs and Sumitt, no complaints on either one.

i try to get all my stuff from summit, when i order stuff from jegs they always screw it up, but u get free stickers and a hat from jegs

Summit, Jegs and PAW. Have spent quite a bit morre with summit but any of the three do me just fine.

Cool, Its good to hear the positive end of things. I ordered some stuff from napaonline it took forever to get, and the double charged my credit card. I useually buy local but online prices you just cant beat
thanks

i usually buy from summit if im in a hurry (next day) and my local auto parts store any other time. they are the same price on just about everything, maybe 1 dollar more or so.

ive bought from northern auto parts before, dam cheap engine kits.

summit has screwed my order up countless times, i only deal w/ jegs now.

also i buy a lot of my internal parts from the machinist i use. i let him do the machine work & he sells me parts i need at cost, so it works out good for both of us.

i havn't had a problem with summit, but i have only ordered 3 times. ive heard horror stories though. the reason i use summit over jegs is summit is next day and jegs is 2-3 days away.

I spent about a grand or so at jegs for my 355 swap and had no problems. If your gonna buy the xtreme k and n filter lid get it somewhere else tho.... been waitin 4 months for mine. :doah: :xmas: :deal:

Two Places I have done a lot of business with are

1. PAW http://www.pawinc.com/

They are probobaly one of the oldest performance parts mail order companies in America. I have been buying parts from them since the late 70's. They do not have much of a web site though.

2. Doug Herbert http://herbertperformance.com/

This guys father (Chet Herbert) literally invented the high performance auto parts mail order business. Doug Herbert has some serious stuff for serious perfomance at good prices.

ive bought two sets so far. no problems. i made sure i got the right ones by asking the tech guys what will fit(thorley's for the K5 was a no brainer, but hookers for a 65' gmc w/ 350 was a little tougher). its funny, the only time ive had problems buying headers that dont fit was local. maybe i was just lucky.

summit has more truck specific parts tho, i got my axle gears& air lockers from them real cheap.

depends on the adds but if they don't say what it will fit you can call jegs and ask em. I bought afterburners, and the y pipe out of jegs without talking to anybody and ended up grinding the frame 3/8 inch down to keep em off the frame.

Sounds real smart. You bought cheap headers that didn't fit and now you ground the frame instead of simply bending the header tube out of your way.

Smart......very smart.

...................... not even 3/8 of an inch. won't make hardly any difference at all in strength unless im runnin the baja 1000.

I can't bend 4 strong ass header tubes. neither can you.
