Where is the ac filter on a 87 truck.

if you mean air filter for the incoming cabin air. nope way to early for that.

if you mean the screen in the a/c system. leave it to a tech with the propor tools and machines and gauges.
 
The air filter, oil filter and fuel filter could all be AC brand.

The A/C system does have a screen to filter crud from plugging up the orifice tube (they are in the same package). If it was plugged up, the A/C system would not be able to circulate refrigerant. You have to evacuate the system to check it, then re-seal, draw a deep vaccum for a while and then recharge the system. Short answer: don't bother unless you are already overhauling the A/C system
