here is the run down...

ford front 60 about to do a rebuild on...im gathering parts...should i buy a 35 spline kit from nwf or buy a set of dednbears???rememeber ford knuckles (weak) and im going full hydro w/the tie rod in the stock location...single ended ram if your wondering..

oh yeah and im running 44s...

Sounds like you have to have the better knuckles. I have some for the D44 Toy project, beefy.

im just thinking that the 30 spline outters are not gonna hold up the the 44 inch tsl and a welded front....i think that they will break before the knuckles...i dont know though..i wish i just had the $$$ to buy both now

Buy neither run it untill it breaks then fix what broke may last alot longer then you think, maybe enough to save to get both.

thats what i was thinking but i dont have spare axles and its a 13 mile drive between the trail head of tellico and the camp....i would rather spend the $$$ now just for peace of mind when im wheeling

I would go 35 spline.

All of the Ford knuckle breakage is on the top where the crossover arms attach. If you're going to run the tie rod in the stock location (presumably with the ram attached between the housing and tie rod) there wont be the exaggerated stress that causes the failure.

Good point but even with the new stuff it doesn't mean there not going to break. However the new axles would be my choice too.

get the 35 spline shafts and beef up your stock knuckles. You can add plates to make em stronger. I beleive there are a few people on here who have done this, Stomper comes to mind.

The knuckle is a much worse failure but I agree that using the stock tie-rod location will help them survive.

I voted 35 spline outers, you'd be lucky to have the 30 spline outers survive any wheelin' trip locked w/ 44's.

Reinforcing the knuckles is a great idea.

I say the knuckles, just because no one has a spare if you break one. And it's a lot easier to get off the mountain with a busted shaft than it is try with only three wheels.
As for shafts....I carry spare sets with me and I think John does too. There both going to be 35 outers but you should be able to find some used 30s cheap, then switch the ends if needed. Then after Tellico you can save for the 35s.
