update for the jek-ster... with interesting updates for anyone who buys aftermarket bling...
I gave keith a ring yesterday (thursday). To his credit, he answered on the first ring. The connection was bad the first few words, but I'm almost positive he answered by saying "wagoneer machine shop...". Interesting. At any rate, I told him who I was and what my problem was. I had PM'd him over on pirate the same story, and he remembered it. Apperently he went back to WMS HQ and picked up my box (with the 32 spline shaft in it) and my letter explaining all the details. Anyway, he said he has my 31-spline shaft in-hand, and my flanges would be ready to go on friday. He asked me to call him back to make sure everything is good to go. Its friday now, but I figured since everything is supposedly hectic over there, I'd hold off until monday and call him then to see what the newest is. The guy seemed genuinely bummed that some people got screwed in the WMS/ATOR boondoggle and he said he hoped that by setting everything right he'd be able to hold on to a customer base. Other people are talking about this guy lying to them multiple times and not getting their goods, so naturally I'll reserve judgement until I have goodies in-hand before I comment further as to the guy's integrity... but if he comes through, I would buy stuff from him again. The situation (me sending parts back in, in the middle of a messy merger/buyout thing) was pretty screwed up... and he didn't know anything about the deal. I coulda been Joe Blow just trying to get a free intermediate shaft. Anyway, once he had my box with the 32 spline shaft in it, he knew who I was, that I wasn't a scammer etc. We'll see how it goes. Whatever happens, its gonna be posted all over ck5/pirate...
Last thing to say about this situation for now is that I'd like to give MAD props and a huge thanks to Kyle over at NWF. NWF used to buy some stuff from WMS apparently, and when he read about my screwed up situation (doubler with no intermediate shaft!) he not only took the time to PM me, offering to sell me a replacement shaft at reduced cost, but also brought the whole situation to Keith's attention when he talked to him recently. When Keith told me that over the phone I just stood there dumbfounded. This is way, WAY beyond "good customer service". This is a guy taking the time to help a fellow wheeler out... a wheeler who bought a competitor's doubler... just because he was in position to do so. As a consumer, I've never seen anything like it. Suffice it to say, when I need bearing retainers, rebuild parts, tripple shifters etc etc for my doubler, I'll be getting them from NWF. Thanks Kyle!
