Where to buy steel?? (first choice was best)

I'm looking to buy a bunch of steel. Some DOM tube, diamond plate, flat stock, etc. But I just found out that the usual place I go dosent stock most of what I want. I figured if I have to order online I'd ask where the best and cheapest site to go was. Has anyone even orderd online even??

This is where I've been looking for awhile. Shipping for my current order is only about $50. That sounds pretty cheap for such a large order. If I find a better deal I'll switch. But for $50 its cheaper than driving to get it.

Numerous locations and when I had my cage done they delivered to a friends shop in the sticks and prices were good.

I see they have a location in Eldredge Iowa.

They were easy to work with and I received exactly what I ordered and it was made in the USA high quality steel with spec sheets from the testing.

Never ordered online. Most of the time I only need little stuff like a 24X24 1/2" plate. Most places will charge to cut etc. I stop by all the local places looking for pulls. Most of the time they have what I am looking for same day or the next.

I'm going to call the place in eldridge monday. Thats only about 25 miles from me. I also found a guy in town that has a fab shop and will order stuff for you with his orders. I havent talked to him yet but it sounds promising. I need

4 20'x2"x.120" DOM tube
2 20'x3/4"x.120 DOM tube
2 4'x8' sheets of 1/16" or 3/32" steel diamond plate
1 20'x4"x1/4" flat steel
1 At least 36"long chunk of 3"-4"x1/4" steel square tube
1 piece of 3/8"-1/2" plate at least 18"x24"

This will get me started but I'll need more for my current projects

I see your order quantities show 20' lengths of the DOM tube. Typically DOM is random lengths. Usually from 17-24'.

Something to keep in mind if your ordering to a specific footage.

17-24 should be alright, I seen that on the few sites I've been to. I also found it odd that the DOM comes like that. I've gotten a load of assorted size angle Iron before and it all came with in an inch or two of each other.

I've had some pretty big swings in DOM length.. almost covering that full range that Kert mentioned... most have been 20 or more...

I ended up going with these guys http://www.metalsdepot.com/index.phtml . Shipping to my door was only $27 and they had all the stuff I wanted. Most places I checked kept saying "We dont have that" to one thing or another.
