Where to find shell hardware ?

Just as it says - I need the bolts/screws that attach the shell to my truck.

I had it painted in July and have since been slowly putting it all back together. I'm basically done, lacking the power window mod and vent window locks.

Then I noticed - Of all the bagging and tagging - I misplaced the shell mount bag. Amazing that I didn't loose more I guess in this 3 month span.

I've flipped through LMC, Classic Parts, and Truck Shop - I never noticed that there's nothing but seals and no hardware. Local PNP just crushed the last K5 and has another one in line to come out - But no time soon.

Does anyone have an idea of where I might find this hardware ?

Your local hardware store.

IIRC, the bolts are 5/16" coarse thread ... you might need large (i.e. fender) washers. For half-top trucks (76+) I seem to recall the ones going into the cab being loooong, like 1.5", and then the ones into the bedrails are shorter, maybe 3/4 or 1".

From the links in the sig it's a 1/2 cab. The bolts that go into the back of the cab are much longer than 1.5", I'm thinking like 3".

What year? Mines an 87 and IIRC they are metric... but not sure.

I'd use this opportunity to buy some stainless bolts to replace the plated orginals that are probably flaking off and turning rusty.

Its an 86 yeah.

The pillar bolts are about 3" - Those are my main concern in finding. The bed rail bolts are easy.

Thanks for the replies

I hadn't thought of those guys. Last time I went in there though, I almost exceeded the national debt - For 2 screws.

I'll save them as a last resort.

Thanks for the response !

it would be really nice to get bolts with a tip on them, versus a flat end with threads right away. I'd go as far as grinding the ends down and chasing the threads with a nut and file.

Hey, check the thread on "Body swap question" dude is going to junk a K5 with topper, Might be able to get the hardware from him, ya'll can work something out maybe. jus say'n

Thanks for the responses.

I do have a local Pick N Pull - But they recently crushed the last K5 they had. The next one is staged to hit the yard but not until the field is thinned out a bit.

I'll look for this thread you mentioned, badmix - Maybe something can happen from there.

Lemme know if that doesn't work out. I think I can scrounge up close to a full set I have around in the pile....somewhere.

Thank you, p0ps45 - I will update this thread until my hardware issue is resolved.
