I need to get 4 shackles for the front and rear bumpers on my K5. Where is the best place to get them from and what tow rating should I get? I need them to go on the clevis points on the bumpers.

Thank You.

Are you talking about D-Shackles?
Go with the biggest ones that will fit.
Harbor freight (if you don't e-bay) will probably have the best price.

Buy American made D-shackles for your, and other peoples, safety. You never know what you will get, strength wise, when buying other stuff.

wow i love it when ppl go off on "buy american made" i totally agree with supporting the country but there is foreign, chinese, etc stufft that is jsut as good. depends on quality control

i broke a 1 inch bolt head off a chinese grade 8 just tightening it. tightly, but it had air pockets in the metal. ill never knowingly buy that crap again.

The reason I said that is because alot of the large manufacturers around the world will only buy American made lifting equipment. They do this because the quality control of the foreign pieces is not that good. The business I work for is one of the largest global businesses in the world. If they could save money on safe, or marginally safe lifting equipment from other countries, believe me they would. On everything but lifting equipment they don't worry about where the parts are made just how cheaply they can buy them.

I guess I should have said a reputable American company. Crosby is the brand we use at work. They do build stuff in other counties but we only use the stuff made in the USA. I also use there stuff at home and on my truck. It isn't that much more expensive to buy stuff you can trust.

Just think of what could happen if one breaks on the end of a snatch strap. I don't think it would be good. I hope the tailgate or rear window stops it.

Mattel trusted a Chinese company and look what happened to them. I'm sure they had safety practices in place and they put lead in there anyway. What I'm saying is just because it says it is rated at 8 ton how do you know they are not lying. When you can get injured or killed I just wouldn't trust non American made.

i found it under a bridge..right after they got thru building said bridge...it was in a growed up clump and they forgot it...i found it fishing the white river

If it's chinese made I wouldn't use it, I don't think it will be strong enough.:D
