well I'm on the way out. I'm going to try and do it like Kert did, from the subframe. Hopefully that works for me.
I'll come in when i'm done (if I get done) to give a report...
I changed my mind. I will just hoist from the roof.
I know I will squish the rain gutter, but I will fix that later....
The way I was going to go it is getting to complicated for me.
So I decided I am willing to sacrafice the rain gutters... I just hope I will beable to bend them back to shape later...
If you have some lumber like a 4x4 put that through the door opening and put your lift straps just outside the cab. This is how I do it and you don't destroy or bend anything. I'll se if I can find a pic
On my 75 I used my engine hoist and used a strap around the roll bar it turned out to be the exact center point and lifted beautifully. Then again you don't have full convertable so probably doesn't help.
I dont have much time, I will write a paragraph about today, after school tomoorw.
Let me just say, today was HELL... I started at 10:00 am, and finally got the chassis out in the driveway, and the tub on a wheeled dolly at 4:00 P.m. the only time I stopped was to go to the washroom. Let me tell you, doing everything without someone else helping SUCKS.I will tell the rest later, and post some pictures tomorrow.
Stomper had the right idea, about putting a plank or 4x4 post across the inside of the roof to avoid damaging the rain gutter area--I've pulled cabs off that way--I drilled holes in the 4x4 and used large 5/8 eye bolts I had to attach the chain to the board.I have also used a floor jack and many peices of lumber or old rims to jack and hold up one side at a time, then slid a 4x4 post across under the body between the frame and body--after you get it high enough, and support the ends of the post, you can roll the chassis out from under the body.I've done several alone--I know how bad it sucks--the only one I actually enjoyed doing was a truck I was scrapping,so I didnt care if I messed it up--and I had a ford 600 series tractor with a bucket loader to do the lifting then--wish I still had it now! /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif
