I have a 72 full convert. and was wondering where the best place to mount an antenna would be? Has anyone with a 69-75 figured this one out yet?

Thanks,

i put it on a ball mount on my rear quarter panel. you have to drill a hole or two but it holds and still looks good.

Mine's also mounted on the rear quarter panel. Drilling that first hole is the hardest part.

Put it on your rear quarter panel towards the back with the ball so you can put it down
It looks good and sporty!

If it ain't Intimidating / It ain't a Chevy!

Or your side mirror....

I just bought my 77. My CB has a magnetic mount antenna. when I take my top off I'll put my antenna on the bed rail for roof clearance.

Right on the rear fender with a ball mount and a spring. Pisses off the folks at drive thrus, but it works great.

Why do people keep calling it a Bronco!!!!!

The rear quater panel on a ball mount. And it was already said, the first hole is the worst. After that it is easy and looks great in my opinion.

See Ya,

I tried the ball mount on the quarter panel, but tore it off on a rock. The best place I've found for durability is in the cowl piece, on the driver's side. The one I have there now is part of a bottom loaded magnet mount, I had to drill a hole (7/8"?), and mounted it. The magnet mount part of the base was trash, so I jsut unscrewed it and used the rest. On a first gen, you may be able to rig up something that would look like the OE radio antenae.

The best mount for reception is a single whip mounted in the center of the roof (on a '76 +), I've heard a lot of good things about the Wilsons. On a full convertible, you really don't hav a good ground plane. If you leave the top on year round, you might be able to use a boat antenae that is meant to be mounted to fiberglass.

Jesse i dont have any pics with the cb on only the hole from where i was now...I didnt think you'd want that but wasnt sure let me know. Maybe it would give you a mount idea

I'm thinking about mounting Twin Truckers on my side rear-view mirrors. The previous owner had JB Welded an iron plate for a magnetic base mount to the roof but it was half-@$$ed and came off.
