Where to mount on board air

Where are you guys mounting a york compressor for on board air with a 90 Blazer serpentine belt. I have an extra v-belt pulley on the crank.

Has anyone ever just mounted the compressor off the engine on the frame/fender well and run a long belt?

Trying to get a clutch pulley for the serpentine is big bucks and I'm wondering about availability of serpentine belt lengths?

not a good idea, unless your running solid mounts, or a motor plate... even then I wouldn't..

as for belts, ANY config is available... usually belts run 1/2" increments..

Kirby prolly has a bracket for your app...

I'll be running 2 of the semi-serps on my 87 setup.. air on ps side...

What Ryoken alluded to is that if you mount the compressor to the frame, the isolation provided by the motor mounts will make the motor bounce around while the compressor won't, so the belt will either snap or pop off. :eek1: Both of which are potentially hazardous, never mind your compressor not running.

In order to maintain proper belt tension, the compressor would have to be attached to the motor.

Kirby makes a combination pulley to run it off of the alternator. Mine is a combo serp and V-belt, so I just ran it off of the crank and made a bracket.
