I am doing the Ford Windstar fans in my blazer right now and I am stuck as to where to mount the thermostat that controls the fans. It says in the block but where in the block? Can I mount in on the water pump if it is the right size? It is a 350 carb with absolutely no computer at all. Thanks !!! I dont see anywhere else to do it, here are pics:

Opposite side of the engine, same location as the temp sender on the drivers side, except between cylinders 6 and 8.

Ok just checked that side and it is covered by my exhaust manifold. I am seriously hoping the water pump works but I dont know

For the most accuracy it should be installed in the intake manifold water passage up front near the thermostat housing. There are usually several locations in aftermarket manifolds that it could go.

Awesome thanks! I have an Edelbrock intake manifold so I will look and see.

Ok got back into it this morning and I looked at my intake manifold. I have the Torker II from Edelbrock and there is a spot for a sensor but it is also being covered by my thermo housing. If I had a straight housing I could utilize it but mine points to the drivers side.

There should be one on each side of the thermo housing isn't there? Far left side up front?

Ah ha!!!! THere is a spot but my heater line is running into that. So should I put my heater line into the water pump and thermal switch in that spot?? Man I was just looking at the pic of that mani on summit and noticed that after you said it.

If you feel comfortable doing it just drill and tap a new hole in the water passage for the sender.

i'd just move the heater line into the water pump and put the sender into the intake. sounds like the problems solved then??

Yep I greatly appreciate everyones help and Ryoken has been helping me through PM's to solve my switch problem. Oh and a note for anyone who is doing this, dont use teflon to seal the threads on the sending unit :doah:

Heater pressure line typically can't go into the pump, as that needs to be a pressure line, (which is why it comes out of the intake) and the one on the pump isn't.

Just FYI, since it's summer time and you may not notice a lack of heat until you need it again. :)

Thanks for the heads up! I am going to take off the torker II manifold and put a performer manifold on with a different thermo housing so that way I have access to both spots on the manifold. Always more money and more work, oh well. I am pretty sure the engine will get pulled this winter and get rebuilt and everything in the engine bay is getting a make over. :D
