Got a new project-
1977 K20 Cheyenne Camper Special w/14bff, D44 w/ext. lockouts, Th350/203, 307 donor w/ram horn manifolds.
Using it as a wood and plow truck and general use.
Runs pretty good but tranny is a little slow engaging reverse. Any ideas on best way to freshen up on the least amount of $$
Tilt steering is shot. How hard to replace??
Thanx in advance

Steering; won't tilt or won't steer?
TH350; Change the ATF, see if theres anything in the pan. Maybe just low on fluid.
Would you be willing to sell the "Camper Special" emblems, by the door handles?

tilt column is all messed up. when you put it gear the ignition and turn signal part of the column move with it. Steering wheel is floppy but it does drive a straight line. I also found the power steering hoses are right up against the frame and have been cut. Needless to say there is psf all over that side of the bay.:doah:
I'm gonna be replacing stuff over the next few days.

Roadnotca- if I can get those emblems off w/out breaking em you can have em. suggestions??

Used tilt steering column complete to the rag are about $75. Very easy to replace that way.

Don't know for sure but they're probably stuck on with double backed tape. If its any more trouble than just twisting them off, leave 'em, you have more important things to do. Thanks.:D

Do you have one??

I'm gonna check w/ the local shop see how much $$ to rebuild it. probably more than 75.

I'm gonna check those emblems out today as well....

The steering colume just might need to be tighten down/or new bearings, just remove the wheel and see what you got.You will have to have pin pullers to get to lower part of colume.
