Also if you put in your subject line "WHERE CAN I GET 7" Shackles?" YOud probably get more responses, PLUS itll help the next fool when he goes to do a search. :)

Sweet, I'll have to give kert a call tomorrow. Thanks fellas!

BTW: oh yeah fixed the title too!

FYI: So, i've just installed 56's up front, and my 6" shackles are a bit too short. that's why I'm thinki'n of goin with the 7" shack els. Any one else go with the 7"ers?

I am running 7" shackles with my 56's as well. I tried to shorten them to lower the truck a bit but then the leaf spring was hitting the bottom of the frame so I had to leave them 7"s.

About how much lift did you get from that swap? mine looks like about 4" but i dunno....

I am not for sure how much lift there is to be honest. When I first put the front axle under there I had my 6" springs still on there and there was only a couple inches between the top of the diff and the crossmember under the motor. I knew I wanted to do 56" springs anyways so I ordered a set of 5" lift springs for the rear of a suburban. They are very soft so that is why I went with them. From what I am told just going from a 52" spring to a 56" springs will give you 4" of lift. So there is 4 there I also made the shackle 3" longer than stock so that is 7" total plus the springs are a 5" lift so about 12" suspension. I also have a 3" body. I was gonna remove the body lift but the headers wont clear and I have my t-case pushed up to far so it would be hitting the bottom of the cab if I removed the body lift. ALso after I got the springs in I removed the overload and the bottom leaf spring from the pack and that dropped it down about 2.5's. So I am probably around 10" or so of suspension lift.

well technically they would if the angle was 90 degrees... or close to it. But I'm sure you know with this swap the shackle angle is far far from 90 degrees........more like 20-30...but yeah.

actually it still wouldn't... think about it, when you do a shackle flip with stock springs/shackles the shackle goes from ~90* in tension to ~90* in compression. the rear eye of the spring moves 8" and the front eye of the spring stays stationary just pivoting witch gives you 4" of lift... you would have to drop the front spring eye mount 3" along with a 3" longer shackle to net 3" of additional lift with a compression shackle setup

So…. Then for example with my home made shackle flip I figured it to be about 8” of total lift cause the shackle that used to be facing up measures about 4”. But that’s not a true 8” though?
