Hey Guys,
I have a 1980 k20 Silverado. This is the hd model, so no cat or emission.
I blew a head gasket. I want to rebuild this 350 (my first time). I'd like to get another engine that is a easy bolt in while I'm doing the rebuild.
The question is which years will work. When I looked at a crate engine it stated 1980 to 1985, when I looked at rebuild kits it is 1969 to 1980. What are my options in years in case I run across a donor truck or car?

I think any carbed 350 would work. Your issue may only be exhaust manifolds, unless you run headers.

80 model year the dipstick went from drivers to pass side.

Any carbureted small block 1985 and older will just slide right in, in place of the 350 already there. In 1986 they went to a one peice rear main seal, and the flexplate has a smaller bolt circle where it bolts to the crank.

drivers side exhaust manifold from an 80+ won't work on a 79 and older block because of the dipstick.

Ive nver had issues, but most of my junk is all drivers side dipstick.

And I usually end up with hearders too.
