When I drove to work Thursday, the transmission was holding gears far to long. The first time that it shifted from first it banged pretty hard. I would blip it before it shifted and it was just firm, but at same RPM?? I was late, and didnt want to go get the other truck. Also, I figured as long as the firm shift didnt grenade something, no slip meant no death knell damage. Got home, researched, and did the 30 mph stomp on it several times and it immediately cleared the issue.

Pre flame warning I knoww my gearing is horrible, and plan to address that as soon as possible. This is the '86 K5 350 700r4 3.08 and 35"s. No tach yet and broken speedo I dont expect that a shift kit would not keep the transmission from being overstressed, but when this problem existed, I realized how I would enjoy something inbetween what I have now and way too high. So, what would everyone reccomend in the RV/stage one? There is of course B&M but what seems alot of people on here are going towards Transgo

Thanks for your advice, Kenny

i bought the B&M kit, i loved it...til my tranny exploded cause it was stock in a truck pull. when u buy the kit, it comes with stage 1 (RV) and stage 2 (street/strip) i used the stage one. u didnt "feel" it shift but it took out the stretched out shifting that autos do. im sure if u wanted a little firmer the street/strip u would like.
