a friend of mine is getting a 4" tc lift for his 85 f**d ranger, and is gonna get some new all-terrains when the lift is on. prolly 31x10.5 or close size. he wants a good cheap all-terrain tire that has some decent puncture resisting sidewalls. they will see the beach, some rocky trails, and light mud. what do yall recomend?

if hes gonna do rocks and mud, then i would not recomend a all terrain tire, go with a mudd terain. they usually have a better side wall.

if hes so set on a all terrain, go with the bfg, best all terrain i had.

you should definetlly look into kelly safari msr's. ive got em and im not going to run anything but those from now on. theyre a more aggressive a/t. they last a long time too. ive had friends that had them for a real long time. /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif /forums/images/graemlins/peace.gif

I had a set of bfg all terrains that I sold the wheels to a friend of mine. When he took them to the tire store to get them dismounted they ripped the sidewall on one of them /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif & they would'nt pay for it.

Those aren't even available yet.

I like the traction of a Goodyear AT/S over the BFG AT/KO... As far as the MSR, I never cared for them in any traction condition(nothing personal to who mentioned them)... But the Kelly DTR performs very well! Another AT tire that performs well is the Sport Kings(I think thats what they're called).

I do agree though that a mud terrain tire may be a better choice if you plan on doing alot of wheeling.

Pro Comp has redesigned the AT, look for the new model sometime soon...

I put a ton of miles on three different trucks with the BFG A/T's. Hands down my favorite AT. Did well on trails, great on snow/ice, quiet and long lasting.
