I originally bought a crappy antenna from a truck stop that I couldnt tune very well and it was a soild fiberglass that broke while wheeling :haha: . So now I want a new antenna probably a whip so it wont break as easily. What should I get? I am using a Cobra 25LTD Classic. Here is where it is mounted now:

Thanks!!

Wilson 1000 smack dab in the center of the roof . However for your location , and mount a Firestick/Wilson/any brand-adjustable-with-a-threaded-thingy antenna would work well .

sorry to hijack but i like your mounting of the antenna. Do you have any more pictures or anything on how you mounted it there?

Yep. A Wilson is the way to go IMO.

I can get you some either tonight or tomorrow, basically when I bought the antenna it came with a mount for a truckers mirror and I just used half of it and ran the cable through the tailgate to the front. My tailgate is off at the top so there is a gap so I am not sure it would work for everybody but you could always drill a small hole for the cable in the body and run it through that. Be sure to use a grommet though so you dont cut the cable.

I second, third or what ever the Wilson. If you like the location you can get a trucker wilson which will raise the load about 18" from the base. Works quite well.

Lots of 3/8's mount antennas around. Get a good 5/8 wave toploader and a spring for the base so you don't break it. Wilson is a good choice.

try to stick it in the middle of the vehicle. You have a better radiation pattern when it is centered. The higher the better.
