Getting a bigger pan for my TH350. Should I go with the cast aluminum or the chrome steel. I would think the aluminum would give better cooling but it could dent easy, And the steel will not give off as much heat but would be stronger, It is also cheaper to. What are you guys opinions on which one to get?

aluminum cracks but cools good
chrome leaks and doesnt cool as good
just get a deep stamped steel one with a drain plug on it and an external trans cooler.

Hi-Jack on, I ordered the aluminum pan today 120 shipped, got my email tonight saying it wont even be at summitt until 5/5 so I got some waitin to do. Hi-Jack off.

An extra capacity pan won't cool nearly as good as a nice large stacked plate cooler will. If you're dead set on getting a larger pan stay with steel rather than aluminum. The aluminum will crack if hit with a good sized rock where a steel pan will just dent. Once the aluminum pan cracks you're done as your fluid will be gone.

I wanna go ahead and hi-jack this too for a second. I walked outside yesterday and saw that there was a puddle of tranny fluid under my truck, so I got under there and seen it was coming from my pan seal. So I torqued the bolts, but the bolts were literally falling out...Is this common for tranny pan bolts to wiggle them selves loose?

Hi-jack off.

Hi-jack on, I dont think that I would have any problems with rocks round here at least nothing big enough to get to the pan. Hi-jack off

That's true, I guess that could be it. It is a big truck with mud tires, what can I expect? ;)
