if I recall those are "Seasoned" blocks rather than new...and 2 bolt mains commonly.

just so you're comparing apples to apples, the GM crates are of course new blocks and 4 bolt mains.

Putting a carb on an '87 should be against the law.

You democrat! :D

And K30, I think you will be happy with most any of the GMPP crates. If you spring for the 502, get the HO or the ZZ, not the HT. The HT has tiny valves and the heads are not as good. The HO and the ZZ make a lot more torque and hp, even down low.

I think the aluminum heads(ZZ series) are worth it on those crates, 454 or 502, more compression, more hp, better efficiency. The 502s are torque monsters.

I guess it just bugs me because they made these trucks for 14 years with carburetors, and only one year with EFI. To me is seems like taking a Dana 60 out, throwing it in the iron pile, and replacing it with a Dana 44.

I was just teasing you because you said it should be illegal. It's all good. To me swapping between TBI and a carb is more like swapping between a Dana 44 and a 10 bolt. They used TBI for 4 years in some of these rigs.

Yeah, but the R/V series (Suburbans, Blazers, Jimmys, Crew Cabs and Chassis Cabs) were a small percentage of the production compared to the regulars pickups that switched over in 1988.

So if someone was going to give you this...

or this...

You would take that q-jet? :wink1:
Not a stock replacement one, no. I'd spring for one from Jet Performance or even Edelbrock again. I have an Edelbrock on my K30 right now and love it.
