Hey guys. I’m trying to bend the brake lines for my hydroboost swap and I need to know what flare type to do? It’s the big bathtub style from the 80’s I believe. Also is the 1/4” brake line I bought for the front and 3/16” to the rear?

thanks in advance

The lines are different sizes front to rear, 1/4 & 3/16 sounds right. Size of flare, I think its a 45 degree. The proper flare is a double inverted. I use the tool from eastwood, does a fine job. A single flare will work in a pinch but its not correct. The other type of flare is a 30 degree I think, its -AN fittings and jic style, not normal automotive.

Thanks for the replies guys. I got a double flare kit off Amazon. Seems decent. I made a quick double flare with it just now. I’ll need some more practice but with the help of YouTube it isn’t too bad.
Does the fitting I have on the line seem right? Should it be more angled to support the flare angle?

also does the front and back seem right how I have it marked on my master cylinder?

Not sure if you knew but the right way to do that fitting is:
1. Flare tube.
2. Cut flare back off.
3. Put nut on.
4. Flare it again.
If you put the nut on before the flare and only did things once you can skip ahead to the advanced class.

Looks good. :waytogo:

I think the master is correct.

The hydroboost must be reversed. My suburban looks like you have it marked, its vacuum boost. My hydroboost trucks are not close by, I will check later. Pretty sure sweetk30 is correct.

Ok thanks! I cheated and cut a piece of brake line off the big roll I have so I could slip the nut back on. Don’t worry I will definitely screw this up lol.

Ok next dumb question. I found my front brake lines. Now I need to connect them to a line off the master cylinder. This has to be done with a proportioning valve right? Basically a manifold if you will that’s splits the single line to 2 ports for the front end. Anyone know what the name of that thing is? I can’t find it on rockauto

Frt is 100% flow threw tee . Rear is biased .

I run this and dial my rear in and good to go . I didnt use the brake light swich as its for brake lights not dash warning.

If you dont want this then i have reflared the frt and put in a brass tee for double 45 flare. then straight plumb rear with adjustable valve in rear up by master . Same thing basicly .
