Not trying to hijack, but is there actually a - in the number. I have a 90670 2492. Just wondering. I have spent many hours cussing this carb. So much, that I had someone build and tweak it because I could not get it right. My old eldelbrock(carter) carb was easier to tune on my other truck. I am so fed up, that I have a buddy tracking down some efi stuff for me. I yanked my carb about a month ago and found that one of the mounting ears is cracked. Not sure if that is the reason the rig would not start. The one piece edelbrock carbs are my fav at the moment. I have had the q-jets and my holley seperate.

I think the lack of any -# would mean it is the very first version.

You can find a lot of info about tuning Holleys at www.thirdgen.com

Yeah I looked on the site and emailed tech support on the issues I have with it. I am assuming that the first version had the same issues as the -1.

I still had to do some tuning with my -2. Swapped in a 35 squirter nozzle and blue pump cam. Also jets for 6000ft elevation.

I can mash the pedal off a dead stop with no hesitation now.

If you have a few hundred to throw around go for the Holley with center hung floats. If your on a budget go get another Qjet and check the throttle shafts for looseness, they can be a problem.
They really can be a great carb when tuned right. Keep in mind the Holley or Edlebrock will probably need to be tuned to the combo also, to get the best results.
I bolted on a 750 vac sec. on my 327, and just by tuning it in, took off 3 tenths in the 1/4 mile.

Should get my new -2 by next week. Holley is great on this issue. I bought mine on 11-20-02 and have put 13000 miles on it. No questions asked replacement coming.

May have to do the parts swap if needed. I am at sea level, so do not know yet.

My old TA still ran at almost 90* when I pulled out of a sure roll on the driver's side at Blazerfest this year. Didn't see a 4' hole and did a 1 wheel stand, but rolled out of it. Too bad it screwed up my nerves for the rest of the trip ( mostly because the wife was freaking out). D60 axles are pretty strong with all the weight I had on it.

Again, you can not beat the customer service you will have with the TA.

I voted for the eddie.I love eddelbroks. They have allways had better fuel economy than the hollys and allways run better for me.Just my experences.Eddelbroks are better carbs. .02

Yup, I think it is a good deal. Heck I have a brand new carb for the $250 I paid to buy the -1 I sent them. I'm glad they realize the exposure they'll get from guys like us getting good customer service. Too many companies don't realize the bad publicity they can get.

I'm anxious to put mine to the test. I was happy with the sputtering -1 I had last year, so I can't imagine it'll be any worse with the -2.

All I can say about the which carb to get issue is:
The Q-Jet is the benchmark off road carb that all others have to be judged by. They are a great all around carb for the street too. It wont cost near what a TA or Edelbrock Thunder AVS series will. Plus TAs and Edels are square bore. I think you will need a new manifold or an adapter to mount a square bore carb to your spread bore manifold.
Personally I would put my trust in a carb that has proven its self for over 40 years. Than a new carb on the market that is suspost to be "As Good " as a Q-Jet for off road.
Q-Jets are the closest thing you can get to fuel injection. They dont call Q-jets "Hill-Billy Injection" for no reason.:D
