Which crossmember is better for an LS swap? I have the flat one in my 82 K5. In the process of looking for a transfer case skid plate, i cam across a W crossmember. I plan to purchase the LS motor and trans soon as i have finally found a set within my price range. Which crossmember is better for the swap? the flat or W? Thank you for your help!

most ls engine equipped auto trans now use the bigger 6 bolt pattern adaptor like th400/4l80 did .

but there all using the round pattern to t-case . just have to check shaft length and pattern and get a 4wd equipped tranny . then make sure your 241 has vss plug and NOT speedo cable.

others have done it I am sure I just don't recall it off hand .

ok. Then will the NP241 bolt to the 4L60 with the same adapter that helps it bolt to the 700R4?

The 241 and 208 have the same 6-lug bolt pattern, so that end isn't the problem. Find an adapter that fits your 4L60 with the correct foot height. My understanding is that all the newer (85+) transmission adapters have the same height, and you can use the 85-86 "W" cross member or the 87-91 "S" cross member seamlessly.

If (and I'm not sure whether this is true) your current 700R4 adapter were to bolt onto the 4L60, no other mods would be required.
