Which Engine for 89\'?

Looks like I may need to replace the 350 in my Blazer sooner than I thought. So should I go with the standard GM crate engine, or a 330hp HO version? Will the HO version work with the tbi and everything w/o changing anything? My main comcern is reliability, so I'll probably get the standard engine, so how much power does it have? Haven't found a figure online for it yet.

Re: Which Engine for 89\'?

Dont get the HO 350 unless you want to get a new chip for the ECM. The 350 HO has too much cam for the stock chip. Also you wil need a 400.00 manifold to adapt it to TBI. Should have a bigger TB and flow matched injectors too

If its reliability you want. Just go with a GM crate TBI 350.If you want to build more power without having to change the stock chip You can add headers, computer cam and intake, and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.
Gm TBI crate engine for Blazers and 1/2 tons is rated at 210 HP

Thanks, i'll go with the standard 350. 210hp doesn't seem like a lot though, not that my blazer seems under powered.

I just put in the replacement crate engine.
Works fine.
