Hey ya'll

I'm looking to put an order together from Summit. I've got everything in the shopping cart except a fuel pump and alternator. Need a little help please. I can't seem to find one with (I guess) a return fitting. I'm not sure what I need. It's an 85 blazer 350. It has two rubber hoses, one larger than the other. Then it has the threaded fitting for the carb. I don't see any that match this set up on Summit. But they are willing to sell me many different ones.

Do I just buy one and cap off the return?
Which do you recommend? Cause I don't have a clue. :doah:

Motor is 400sb, q-jet, mild build.

Also, can anyone recommend a good alternator from them? V-belt style:(
Thanks a diaper load! I need to get my order going. May have my engine back any day now. Working on wiring like a MOFO!!!

nothing?

an I have to finish SOMETHING, gezus fuk I swear to dog I can't finish anything on this truck. Today has just been GREAT. Horrible 3 hour round trip in 5mph traffic drive to a vender, picked up 1/2 wrong stuff, argument at work, and now what I thought would be a major PITA project completed.....IS STILL INCOMPLETE. I screwed up my column plate working on it, don't ask.

I swear I hope someone breaks into my house tonight so I can take a life, or end mine. Work 6 days a week, sometimes 7. Get a day off, do errands, raining, sick, etc....anything that keeps me from working on it. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Does anyone have an extra one of these they can sell me. God I wanted this done tonight. If I didn't have work @6am, I think I'd finish all my liquor tonight.

Seeing your in LA the chances somebody will break into your house is good.LOL Not sure if chrome is what you want in a pump but I have a mild built 355 with a holley 750 and run a napa run of the mill mecanical fuel pump with no probs at all.A 100 amp alt is a good choice if you plan on installing lights or other things that draw more power than stock.

what amperage if I plan on running a winch, lights, small stereo, and E-fan? I will be doing dual batteries too.

All you need is a two line input and return type pump. The small port is just a vent. Something like this will work well with a mild build.

I run a 100 amp I believe and have no issues. I run TBI, 4 KC lights and an electric winch. I do run dual btry's and will go to a 120-140 when mine gives up, but I have no problems with it.

Thanks for the reply. I think I'll look into the 120 amp alternators. Not sure if going bigger will give me any V-belt squeal problems.

The fuel pump you linked me too says this. What does that mean? Does anyone know if I have 1/4 or 3/8 output? Do I measure with the threads or without them to get I.D.
Not for use on carbureted vehicles with vapor return lines or fuel injection systems

I can feel my truck coming together. It will be alive soon, I hope.

Those pumps come with multiple screw in fittings so that you can put whatever size you need on it. I believe you will have a 3/8 inlet with a 5/16 outlet but not sure. If it doesn't have the fitting you need, which it should, you can get fitting at your local hardware or parts store. You can take your old pump and measure the fitting to see for sure though.

The only way you should have issues with the belts squealing is if you have an alignment problem. The alt will only put out what the vehicle is requiring, it won't put out 120 amps all the time. Therefore at idle or low rpm's it's not much more if any harder to turn than your old one, unless you have a whole bunch of electric stuff on at once.

I usually just get an alt with a good warrenty unless it's a 200 amp or so. As far as the fuel pump, I have used edelbrocks, summit and jegs brand as well as others with no issues. For a mild build, use whatever is affordable in a performance pump and you should do just fine.

thanks

I forgot about looking at warranties.:doah:
And I think I'm going with the Summit Racing 110gph/ 6.5-8psi pump. Probably the same thing as that Jegs model.

Looking at Powermaster and Tuff stuff Alts. Anyone nah say either of these?

I have used their starters but not the alternators. Unless you are really going to be pulling allot of amps on a regular basis I would go with an autozone special for less money. It will also be easier to replace if it goes bad.
