I need to get my glow plugs done before my house build gets crazy. It was hard starting last winter. I would like to get the 60g's or at least I think I would like to get them. What would you recommend?

I need something I can pick up at Napa as they are the only game in town (they also give me a 22.5% discount for being a teacher). I will also be putting in a manual gp switch for the longer glow time.

I'd go with the 60Gs and you'll be fine. You could check out the specialty plugs over at Kennedy Diesel. Heard good things about him and those plugs if you want to be certain.

go with the 60g's or the quick-heats. just make sure whatever plug you get says that its self-limiting (it will reduce its current draw as it heats up, so it wont swell)

After new battery cables and rebuild starter, I bought set of 60G's with manual relay, and never had starting problems again.

ok picked up some 60g's. I was able to get seven of the old plugs out real easy. I am unable to get a socket or a wrench on the passenger side front glow plug.

There is a bracket that is holds up part of the air cleaner snorkle that is bolted to the exhaust manifold. It pretty much blocks access.

Am I going to have to pull this bracket to get that last GP? Any tips?

60g's are in and working. I am going to run with the stock controller for now. I will see how they do tomorrow in the morning. It is supposed to be around freezing, so it will be a decent test.

60G's don't swell, but they do take considerably longer to get hot than the stockers. My K5 has the 60G's and at around freezing it'd take 10-12 seconds of glow time to get it to start.

My '83 pick-up has Kennedy "Quick heats" which are also self limiting. The glow up as fast or faster than the stock 11G's the truck came with. With the factory GP controller still functional it fires up easily no matter the temps.

I prefer the Quick heats.

If you want to crank up the glow time, you can add 5 Ohm 2w resistor (that increases 2-4 seconds to glow time), to a wire that goes to relays C-pin.
